  1. 1

Wash and thoroughly dry the broccoli. Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets, ensuring they are roughly equal in size for even cooking.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, toss the broccoli florets with olive oil until lightly coated. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using), tossing again to distribute evenly.

  3. 3

Preheat your air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for 3-5 minutes.

Arrange the seasoned broccoli in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer to avoid overcrowding.

  5. 5

Air fry for 8-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking. Look for tender-crisp florets with lightly browned, slightly charred edges.

Carefully remove the broccoli from the air fryer. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

  7. 7

Serve immediately as a healthy and delicious side dish.

Notes

  • Ensure broccoli is very dry before tossing with oil for optimal crispiness. Pat dry with a clean kitchen towel if needed.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket, as this will steam the broccoli instead of crisping it. Cook in batches if necessary.

Substitutions

  • Broccoli: Cauliflower florets, Brussels sprouts, or asparagus spears (adjust cooking time)
  • Olive oil: Avocado oil or grapeseed oil

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for best results.

Freezer

Not recommended; broccoli can become mushy upon thawing.
